The Story Behind BTK COLLECTIONS: A Note from Brenda
I’m Brenda Tran-Keating, founder of BTK COLLECTIONS. I started this boutique with a love of classic style and a practical idea: getting dressed should feel easier when your wardrobe contains pieces you enjoy wearing again.
Today, BTK COLLECTIONS is an online women’s boutique rooted in New York, with a focus on structured dresses for modern professional women. That focus also leaves room for feminine prints, relaxed silhouettes, and occasion dresses. What connects them is my interest in clothes that have a clear place in your life, from a working day to a dinner invitation or a celebration.

From Vietnam to Chicago and New York: Where My Story Began
I moved from Vietnam to Chicago as a teenager and later made my way to New York. Throughout those changes, my interest in fashion, beauty, and classic style stayed with me.
My earlier career included work in a trading environment and at an international bank. Fashion was a personal passion alongside that work. When I shopped for myself, I looked for pieces that were elegant, easy to combine, and versatile enough to wear more than one way.
I have always enjoyed color and the occasional trend. But the foundation of my wardrobe has been classic pieces: clothes I can return to without feeling that I need to start over each season.
I shared more of those early experiences, including photographs from charity events, in my original fashion journey.
How BTK COLLECTIONS Began
During the pandemic, I began turning my longstanding interest in fashion into an online boutique. I wanted to bring together pieces that felt elegant, versatile, and easy to make part of a real wardrobe.
The original idea was simple: select clothes that make it easier to put an outfit together. A change of shoes, a pair of earrings, or a different handbag can give a dress another setting. A piece chosen for the office may also work for dinner, while a dress bought for a celebration can become part of a wider wardrobe.
As the boutique developed, I continued to look for a balance of shape, fabric, and thoughtful detail. Today, that approach defines BTK COLLECTIONS: structured dresses, feminine prints, and distinctive pieces chosen with workdays, dinners, and celebrations in mind.
Structured Dresses, Feminine Prints, and the Brands We Love
Grade & Gather was an early expression of the boutique’s softer side, with flowing silhouettes and ease of movement. As the selection grew, NISSA, Weill Paris, and Edward Achour Paris helped define its more tailored direction.
- NISSA brings feminine silhouettes, defined waists, and choices that span daytime dressing, cocktail invitations, and formal occasions.
- Weill Paris adds French elegance through tailored shapes, textured fabrics, and distinctive finishing details.
- Edward Achour Paris offers structured dresses and jackets with a strong Parisian point of view.
Korean designers, including Nora Noh, NNA, Dahlia Project, and Mignon Doo, add another perspective on proportion and shape. Sugarlips and Adelyn Rae bring feminine prints and versatile dresses for daytime plans and celebrations.

What I Look for When Choosing a Dress
I consider how a piece might work in a real wardrobe. A beautiful detail matters, but so do the silhouette, fabric, fit, and occasion.
- A clear shape: the relationship between the neckline, waist, sleeves, and skirt, whether the cut is fitted, flared, or relaxed.
- Fabric and construction: composition, lining, texture, and the way those details support the design.
- Wearable interest: a distinctive print, a considered button, or an unusual neckline that gives an outfit character.
- More than one styling possibility: opportunities to change the mood with shoes, layers, and accessories.
Two dresses from the selection show how that approach can lead to very different choices.
| Dress | Fabric, design, and fit | How I would wear it |
|---|---|---|
NISSA Navy Short Sleeve A-Line Midi Dress with Button Detail
|
Shape: high neckline, short sleeves, fitted bodice, defined waist, and flared midi skirt. Asymmetric button detail and back zip fastening. Fabric: 92% polyester, 8% spandex shell; 97% viscose, 3% spandex lining. Lined. Fit: use the NISSA body-measurement guide, particularly through the bust and waist. Care: delicate dry clean; follow the garment label. |
Ideal for business meetings, client lunches, and dinner after work. I would start with pumps and a structured handbag, then change the earrings and bag for an evening invitation. |
Weill Paris Black Wool Crepe Shift Dress with Gold Floral Buttons
|
Shape: straight shift cut, three-quarter sleeves, bust darts, two neckline keyholes, gold-tone floral buttons, and a concealed back zip. Short length, shown above the knee on the model. Fabric: 100% virgin wool main fabric; 100% polyester secondary fabric. Lined. Made in Poland using Italian fabric. Fit: consult the Weill size guide and garment measurements; Weill numbers are not US sizes. Care: professional dry clean; do not wash. Follow the garment label. |
Ideal for dinner, the theater, or a cocktail reception where the dress code suits a short dress. I would let the floral buttons provide the neckline detail, adding small earrings, a compact bag, and simple heels. |
Select either dress to see current pricing, available sizes, full measurements, and care details. Hem placement varies with height and proportions. The product pages carry the latest availability.
A Personal Approach to Shopping Online
BTK COLLECTIONS has grown, but it is still a small boutique with a personal point of view. I curated the pieces with the same questions I ask when shopping for myself: Where would I wear this? What makes it interesting? How would it work with the rest of a wardrobe?
Choosing well also means paying attention to fit. Designer sizing varies, so review the individual product description and size guide. If you are deciding between sizes or need help with a particular style, contact BTK COLLECTIONS before ordering.
If you are beginning with an occasion rather than a brand, our complete women’s dress guide can help you compare styles by occasion, season, budget, and silhouette.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the boutique. My hope is that you find a piece here that feels like you, and that you enjoy finding new reasons to wear it.
